FleetInsider

How Huboxt designed and built FleetInsider from the ground up — a fleet platform that integrates with fuel cards and telematics, refreshes fuel prices daily, finds the best prices along a route, and gives fleets card management, tax handling, role-based access and a mobile app for drivers.

FleetInsider fleet management and fuel optimization platform

The challenge

Fuel is one of the largest, most variable costs a fleet carries. Prices differ from station to station, day to day, and country to country, and the data needed to act on that — fuel-card transactions, telematics, tax rules — lives in separate systems that don't talk to each other. Most fleets simply pay whatever is in front of the driver.

FleetInsider set out to change that: a platform that brings fuel cards, telematics and pricing together and actively helps fleets spend less — by showing where to fuel for the best price along the routes they're already driving. There was no existing system to build on; everything had to be designed and built from scratch, from the integrations and the pricing engine to the admin tooling and a mobile app the drivers would actually use.

The work spanned a lot of moving parts — external integrations, daily data pipelines, a price-optimization capability, multi-country tax handling, access control and mobile — that all had to come together into one coherent product.

Goals

01

Integrate data sources

Integrate with fuel-card providers and telematics systems.

02

Current pricing

Keep fuel pricing current with daily updates.

03

Route savings

Help fleets find the best fuel prices along their routes.

04

Card management

Manage fuel cards within the platform.

05

Cross-border tax

Handle tax settings across different countries.

06

Roles & mobile

Provide role-based authorization and a dedicated mobile application for drivers.

Our approach

We connected fuel cards, telematics and daily pricing first, built route-based optimization on top, handled cross-border tax and card management, and delivered role-based web, admin and driver mobile experiences on Laravel and Next.js.

01

Connect the data sources

Integrations with fuel-card providers and telematics systems, plus a daily pricing-update pipeline — giving the platform the current, connected data it needs to make useful recommendations.

02

Turn prices into savings

Route-based best-price fueling so the platform doesn't just report prices but actively points drivers and managers to cheaper fueling — the core value of the product.

03

Handle real-world complexity

Multi-country tax settings and fuel-card management so fleets operating across borders can administer cards and comply with local rules in one place.

04

Web, admin and mobile

Role-based authorization for managers, operators and drivers, with Laravel + Laravel Nova admin, a Next.js web application, and a dedicated mobile app for drivers.

What we built

A complete fleet-fuel platform from scratch — integrations, pricing engine, optimization, tax, access control, admin, web and mobile.

  1. 01

    Fuel-card & telematics integrations

Connections to fuel-card providers and telematics systems, bringing transactions and vehicle data into one platform.

  2. 02

    Daily fuel pricing

A pipeline that keeps fuel prices updated daily, so recommendations reflect current rates.

  3. 03

    Route-based best-price fueling

The ability to find and surface the best fuel prices along a fleet's routes — the feature that turns data into savings.

  4. 04

    Fuel-card management

Tools to manage fuel cards directly within the platform.

  5. 05

    Multi-country tax settings

Configurable tax handling for fleets operating across different countries.

  6. 06

    Authorization & roles

A role-based access model giving managers, operators and drivers the right permissions.

  7. 07

    Driver mobile app

A dedicated mobile application for drivers.

  8. 08

    Admin & web application

A Laravel + Laravel Nova admin layer for managing the platform and a Next.js web application for users, all containerized with Docker over a MySQL data layer.

Results

01

Complete platform

Integrations, pricing, optimization, tax, access control and mobile, delivered as one product built from scratch.

02

Actionable savings

Route-based best-price fueling turns connected data into lower fuel spend, not just dashboards.

03

Always-current pricing

Daily updates keep recommendations accurate.

04

Cross-border ready

Multi-country tax settings and fuel-card management handle the realities of European operations.

05

Right tools per user

Role-based web and admin access plus a driver mobile app.

The product earns its value at the point where data becomes a decision. Rather than stop at dashboards, FleetInsider connects fuel cards, telematics and daily pricing and then uses them to answer the question that actually saves money — where should this vehicle fuel on this route. Building it from scratch let Huboxt design that flow end to end: integrations and a daily pipeline feeding a route-based optimization capability, wrapped in multi-country tax handling, card management, role-based access, and a driver mobile app, on a maintainable Laravel/Next.js/MySQL stack. The result is a platform fleets can use every day to operate smarter.
