The challenge

Businesses want to reach their audiences directly over SMS and email, but doing it well means more than sending a single blast. They need to build and personalize campaigns, segment their contacts, schedule recurring sends, reach recipients reliably through different SMS providers, and see what's actually working — all without the underlying complexity landing on the user.

The client wanted a platform that delivered exactly that. There was no existing system to extend; everything had to be built from scratch, including the technology choices, the architecture, the security model and the campaign and scheduling algorithms underneath. The platform also had to be scalable and flexible enough to grow well beyond its first release.
