Cross-platform app
Deliver a multiplatform (iOS + Android) mobile app from a single codebase.
Case study
How Huboxt built Petmate AI — a cross-platform mobile app that lets pet owners ask any pet-care question and get fast, accurate answers from an AI assistant tuned to their specific pet — and shipped it to the App Store and Google Play with a matching landing page.

Petmate AI started with a real emergency. The founder — a pet owner — faced a sudden late-night health scare with her dog, with no vet reachable by phone. She described the symptoms to ChatGPT, which pointed to an acute allergic reaction, and rushed to a 24/7 clinic in time for treatment that likely saved the dog's life (it turned out he'd swallowed a bee).
The takeaway: pet owners need quick, trustworthy, pet-specific answers — faster than searching the web and simpler than crafting prompts in a general AI tool. Petmate AI is that product: a mobile app where you create a profile for your pet and ask anything about health, treatment, training, breeding or feeding, and get answers tailored to that animal.
The product was self-funded, so it had to reach the market quickly, run on both iOS and Android, and be built cost-effectively — without cutting the corners that make an AI answer trustworthy. The plan was clear: a multiplatform mobile app published to both the App Store and Google Play, plus a landing page to promote it.
The interesting engineering problem sat in the AI: a general chatbot gives general answers. To be genuinely useful for a specific pet, the assistant had to be grounded in that pet's details — and packaged in an app simple enough that anyone could use it in a stressful moment.
01
Deliver a multiplatform (iOS + Android) mobile app from a single codebase.
02
Make the AI's answers accurate and relevant to each individual pet.
03
Reach the market quickly and cost-effectively.
04
Publish to the App Store and Google Play.
05
Provide a landing page to promote the app.
We grounded the AI in each pet's profile, built once for both platforms with Flutter, kept the experience simple around a chat interface, and stood up a Next.js landing page to drive installs.
01
We built the chat on an OpenAI integration where each session is pre-configured with a tailored prompt that includes the user's pet profile — sex, breed, age and weight — so answers are specific to that animal rather than generic. A backend keeps the prompt setup and pet data consistent across conversations.
02
We chose Flutter so a single codebase serves both iOS and Android — faster and more cost-effective than building and maintaining two native apps, which fit the founder's go-to-market and budget goals.
03
The app centers on a familiar, chat-style interface, so owners can get answers quickly and easily — the whole point in an urgent moment.
04
We built the marketing landing page in Next.js, using its built-in capabilities to stand up a polished site quickly.
A complete launch package — AI pet-care chat, per-pet personalization, cross-platform mobile app, backend and landing page.
AI pet-care chat
A chat experience, backed by OpenAI, that answers pet-care questions across health, treatment, training, breeding and feeding.
Per-pet personalization
Pet profiles (sex, breed, age, weight) that feed into the AI prompt so answers are tailored to the specific animal.
Cross-platform mobile app
A single Flutter codebase delivering native iOS and Android apps, published to the App Store and Google Play.
Backend & AI integration
A backend that manages the OpenAI integration, prompt setup and pet data.
Landing page
A Next.js marketing site to promote the app and drive installs.
01
Petmate AI shipped to both the App Store and Google Play from one Flutter codebase.
02
Pet profiles feed the AI so responses are specific, not generic.
03
A cross-platform build and focused scope let a self-funded founder launch efficiently.
04
App plus landing page, ready to acquire users.
“The product succeeds by being narrow and grounded. Rather than ship another general chatbot, Huboxt built the AI around each pet's profile, so the answers are specific enough to trust — the difference between a curiosity and something an owner reaches for in an emergency. Flutter kept the build cross-platform and cost-effective, Next.js made the landing page quick to stand up, and a focused scope got a self-funded product into both app stores without waste. It's a small, sharp product that does one valuable thing well.”
